Tjeerd is working part-time as a researcher for ETFI. He is also a researcher and lecturer at the Hotel Management School of NHL Stenden University. Tjeerd studied econometrics and is a certified register controller. That explains why at ETFI he is mainly involved in complex quantitative assignments. He works mostly with large or special data sets or economic impact analyses. Apart from the technical aspects involved, he finds it interesting to approach these complex issues from a critical perspective.
Because of his knowledge of hospitality management he easily picks up the studies that deal with hospitality. Tjeerd is also active as a liaison between ETFI and CDUT, our partner in Chengdu. He has travelled extensively in China and is aware of the recent developments in this beautiful country. Furthermore, he is busy finishing his dissertation on innovation using social network studies. In it he analyses how peer behaviour may explain why some managers deviate from existing practices and focus on innovation, while others don’t.
