At ETFI Maaike is an expert on issues regarding customer journey mapping, experience management and stakeholder participation. She focuses on areas with a protected status. As a lecturer and educational developer at various Dutch and foreign educational institutions Maaike deals with ethical issues concerning tourism. Working with different interest groups is the main characteristic of her research and teaching activities.
Maaike is well-informed about tourism development, nature conservation and cultural heritage. She can bridge the gap between different disciplines, organisations and perspectives. Moreover, Maaike easily creates a customer journey map and connects the outcomes to the changing lifestyles of visitors. In this way, she advises organisations how to deal with new forms of visitor experience.
