Tourism and recreation in Overijssel in 2030
The tourism and recreation industry in Overijssel accounted for 35,750 jobs in 2017 and thus for 6.2% of the total employment in the province. The growth of the foreign tourist and that of the active pensioner requires a broader view. Because the positive signals also make it good to ask whether more is always better. During the mini-symposium organised by Trendbureau Overijssel en Marketing Oost several important questions will be raised:
- What does the growth mean for the supply in Overijssel and the associated accommodations?
- What about the required employees?
- And what can or should we do with the effects of climate change and sustainability?
- If the landscape of Overijssel, the scenery of leisure, changes, does the tourist still find us interesting?
Our tourism expert Stefan Hartman will, together with different experts and entrepreneurs, join the discussion. The goal is to contribute to the understanding of the key forces that drive change in leisure & tourism, possible ‘tippings points’ that may have huge influences, and how to respond to them. The overall aim of the mini-symposium is knowledge exchange and strengthening networks.
