Making travel more accessible for people with disabilities

This project is focusing on the customer journeys of people with disabilities and their families/caretakers, a group that has been traditionally marginalised in the tourism and travel sector. This project is focusing specifically on demand and supply in the Netherlands in order to ensure maximum immediate benefit and applicability for the Dutch tourism and travel industry.

This research project is still running.

Advantages:

  • Developing an in-depth study of the customer journeys and barriers experienced by Dutch people with disabilities and their families/caretakers
  • Bringing new attention to the rapidly growing segment of travellers with disabilities
  • Helping tourism and travel operators adjust to and develop with the needs and interests of those within this segment

This project is conducted together with Wageningen University & Research (lead partner) and Breda University of Applied Sciences.
